Dhanvantari, God of Indian Medicine, an
incarnation of Vishnu
emerged from the Milky-Ocean at the end of the churning by the devas and the
asuras.
A Description of
Dhanvantari
reads as follows:
"Armed with conch, discus, leach and the golden pot of
'Amrita'-Elixir of Immortality, clad in yellow silk garment,
An exquisitely textured cloth around the coiffure, with eyes as dark as the
rain-cloud, Who annihilates disease and suffering, like
the raging forest fire, Which totally consumes the forest".
